1928 - 1945

The Kotlin company's and brand's history began during the interwar period when on the initiative of the town's inhabitants a Dairy Association was established and its particular aim was to become independent from the nearby German-owned dairies.
During the World War Two period a production of marmalade and preserves was launched.
Just before the end of the war – in March 1945 – the few staff managed to reintroduce the production of fruit preserves and canned vegetables. At that time the company had a proud name: Marmalade, Fruit Preserves and Wine Manufacturing Company in Kotlin.

Postwar years until 1956

Following the end of war struggle the plant quickly developed and by 1948 it had already employed 112 people so as to be able to produce up to 780 tons of fruit preserves and tomato paste annually. The assortment was broadened thanks to the company's own raw material resources. Kotlin products have been produced from nearby plantation's raw material ever since.

1956 - 1965

Between 1956 and 1960 new production departments were launched. The opening of a state-of-the-art tomato paste production department based on “Manzini”, an automatic Italian production line, was a great nationwide event.
In 1961 first Kotlin products were exported.

1966 - 1976

The years between 1966 and1970 were marked by the quality of the offered preserves being significantly improved. Thanks to this, Kotlin was awarded five Quality Signs for the following products: ketchup, asparagus, tomato paste, tomato juice and gooseberry compote.
In 1970 the assortment was yet again expanded with the canned peas and canned vegetable and meat dishes.

1977 - 1990

Between 1977 and 1990 the manufacturer underwent further intense development. With the newly established internal sewage treatment plant Kotlin was able to join “The Good Manufacturers' Club”. Besides, a new cold store and new apple and tomato paste production lines were launched.

From 1991 onwards...

The beginning of the 1990s saw extensive and positive changes taking place in Kotlin company. The shift in the character of the company from productive to market targets combined with the privatization process carried out in May 1997 have significantly strengthened the position of Kotlin on the Polish market.

Kotlin company and brand owes its success mainly to the Norwegian investor – Orkla Foods company.
